From the early days of man's evolution he has felt the need to communicate with his surrounding, whether it be with nature or with other man. On occasion this need for communication was social but mostly it was in the pursuit of survival. While things have changed considerably since then, in the way things are done, the primary purpose has not, for today's man still seeks to survive, although survival in the 21st century is often measured by material wealth.

To assist with his survival man has invented, and adopted, many new forms of technology and is constantly pushing at the frontiers of technology. In this fast changing world it is often hard to get your feet planted firmly enough on the ground to start walking, let alone running.

This book "THE TECHNOLOGY JIGSAW EXPLAINED" is an attempt to slow things down enough for you get that firm foot holding and to then bring you up to speed in this ever changing world. Once you reach this point you will then be able to consider the questions;

What role does technology have to play within my organisation?
Am I getting the best out of technology for my organisation?

In order to get you to this point, many other questions must be answered, and this is done in the book by taking things slowly, describing the individual component part of a potential problem or solution and then bringing them together in a form which shows how their inter-operation brings about a resolution or solution. This style is used throughout the book as it moves from describing the evolution of technology to the implementation of basic solutions and then on to more complex ones.

To further assist in understanding the book's subject matter it has been written in a modular fashion which allows the reader to stop at a break point, digest the information, understand it, and then move on to the next topic. In approaching it in this fashion the author gives every opportunity to the reader to feel comfortable with a particular topic before they move on to the next.

By the end of the book the reader will have a very good, top level understanding of all of the elements which make up the modern technology jigsaw and will be more than capable of answering the two questions posed earlier as well as having a sufficiently high level of confidence to engage in the creation and implementation of a technology plan for their organisation.
